Mayfield Garden is a short 15-minute drive from the town of Oberon. Spread across 65 hectares of land, this private garden is a visual spectacle that feels like a fairytale come to life. Seriously, if fairies were real, I think this would be their home. I felt like I was in Pixie Hollow. From the water garden and copper tree fountain to the lavender parterre and valley of five ponds, the landscape is full of attractions. I believe one needs at least two days to cover the whole garden - which is why I went glamping here. If you’re wondering what that is, it’s basically glamorous camping. Picture a tent with the luxuries of a queen-sized bed and electrical extensions! Normal camping is just not my thing.  

 

Nights were chilly so I’d eat dinner close to the campfire at the Garden Café while staring at a million stars in the sky. While days were spent getting lost in the meticulously maintained box hedge maze and wandering through flower-filled valleys. And the perfect end to my adventure was a visit to the Oberon Equestrian Centre. I met a lady who was kind enough to let me pet her horse -  a simple gesture that warmed my heart and left me smiling long after the encounter.
