PARADISE
"A true tropical paradise"
In the summer of 2024, I visited Phuket, Thailand. I stayed at a resort along the lively streets of Patong Beach and it was my second trip to Thailand, the first one being to Bangkok after I graduated high school. This time I wanted to enjoy and experience the tropical islands of this beautiful country, and I made it a point to explore several renowned tourist spots.

The first day began with me waking up at four in the morning to embark on a boat tour of the Phi Phi Islands. The speedboat journey was quite bumpy, but getting a glimpse of the breathtaking sunrise at Koh Khai Nai Island made it all worthwhile. As a treat, we were served a coconut delicacy in the traditional Thai style, adding a touch of authenticity to the experience.

While I enjoyed dipping my feet in the crystal-clear waters at Maya Bay, the true highlight of the trip was snorkelling in the middle of the ocean amongst vibrant corals. Being a huge water baby, I felt the happiest out there swimming in the ocean where I was also greeted by schools of tiny fish. Being on an island, surrounded by water on all sides, gave me the perfect opportunity to disconnect from the stresses of daily life and refresh both my body and soul. My other adventures in Phuket also included canoeing around Phang Nga Bay, known for its striking limestone cliffs and emerald waters, and visiting a tiger sanctuary, where I had the chance to pet one of these majestic, wildcats. Seeing them up close, you really see why they dominate the food chain.
On the third day, I visited Rock Beach, undoubtedly the most Instagrammable spot in Phuket, featuring over 50 different attractions and backdrops. The "Stairway to Heaven" and “Bird's Nest” were my personal favourites. I also took a trip to Phuket’s Old Town Road which was dotted with pastel-coloured buildings and souvenir shops, and later visited the Wat Chalong temple, which offers all tourists a sense of peace and tranquillity.

On days when I didn’t feel like wandering outside, I stayed in to enjoy the comfort and service of my hotel. The resort I stayed at offered numerous sea-facing pools and jacuzzi hot tubs, which became my go-to spots for early morning swims before breakfast or peaceful evening dips as the pool was lit up with soft lighting. Staring at the ocean whilst sipping on a fruity cocktail by the poolside bar was the perfect way for me to unwind.

I cannnot wait to visit this island again.
